Long Delays And Getting Back On The Horse

It's been a crazy time for me.  Right after my last post we found out that the rental that we lived in was going to be sold so that meant finding a few one and quickly.  In our area that is something of a challenge so we ended up in a much smaller house.  I ended up downsizing my shoe collection while we were in the smaller house.  There just wasn't any place to store them and at the time I was unsure how long we were going to be in that house.  I ended up cutting my collection to around 75 pairs.  We are in a larger place again so I am able to work on building my collection back up.  I am being much more picky with my selections this time around and trying to limit my purchases to items I will actually wear.  For example before I had quite a few pairs of pink shoes but I don't even really wear pink!  I also returned to college in January to work on finishing my degree which keeps me super busy.  Between homeschooling my oldest daughter and my own schooling not to mention my other responsibilities my time is so limited these days but I am going to make an effort to start posting again.  I really haven't made too many purchases lately since I haven't seen a lot that I just HAD to have.  There is a pair of shoes from Shoedazzle that I recently ordered and then a beautiful pair of Brian Atwoods that I adore.  I will be posting the info on those separately.  More to come soon......

Product Review: Coppertone Clearly Sheer Sunscreen

I'm a BzzAgent and I was given some samples of Coppertone's Clearly Sheer Sunscreen to try.  I'm not a super outdoor kind of girl so I used it for the kids instead.  My oldest went to summer camp for a week and she used the product.  She's a preteen with fairly sensitive skin so we have to be carefully which products we use since she is prone to breakouts.  She was outdoors every day for a week and even participated in a variety of water based activities.  When she came home she had no sunburns even though every day she was there temps reached well into the 90s.  And the best part is no breakouts from the product.  Some benefits of the Clearly Sheer line are:
  • Absorbs in seconds for a clean and light feel
  • Moisturizing formulas help leave your skin soft and smooth
  • Won’t clog pores or cause breakouts (clinically tested on acne-prone skin)
  • Matte finish is perfect for use under makeup
We will be using this product in the future for our sunscreen needs.  The Clearly Sheer line also has a beach and pool product in their lineup that is also available in a spray.

CLEARLYSheer For Sunny Days:

Clean and light formulas are ideal for everyday use under makeup with a fresh citrus scent that’s appropriate for routine daily activities. SPF 30.

CLEARLYSheer For Beach & Pool

Delightfully light, refreshing formulas feel clean on skin, are water resistant for up to 80 minutes and have a subtle tropical fruit and flower fragrance. SPF 50.

You can head on over to the Coppertone website and print out a coupon for $1 off.  It can be found HERE.

New Blog!

Lately I have been getting into home decorating and DIY projects more and more.  I decided to create a separate blog for those projects and post instead of putting them on this blog.  My current project is my dining room.  I should be finished with most of that project by Monday and I will be doing my first post on that blog.  So if home decor on a budget and DIY is your thing check out my new blog at www.decoratingthisoldhouse.blogspot.com.

New Shoe Room and A Vanity Makeover

We recently moved into a new house which meant setting up a new space for all my shoe babies.  The 4th bedroom in this house is too small to make an effective guest room so I claimed it for my shoes.  The room isn't completely finished but I would say it's about 90% complete.

The vanity pictured above was a DIY project.  I had been looking for a vanity for awhile but was unhappy with the selection that I found both in stores and online.  All the ones I found were either very expensive or had next to no drawer space.  Someone told me about a local flea market which I went to check out one afternoon.  I found a Art Deco style vanity in major need of some TLC which I bargained down to $30.  A Saturday morning spent sanding and painting yielded great results.

The entire vanity project cost me less than $60.  Lots of drawer space and furniture that was built to lass.  I'm very happy with it.  I'm going to work on installing a Hollywood style vanity mirror by it next.

JF Arrival

I love structured bags and Arrival from JF is very structured.  It does come with a removable strap which I never use.  I love the size of this bag too.  I originally bought it in burgundy (which is now sold out) and then I lusted over the navy version for while before I decided to give in and bring it home.  I also have Arrival's slightly smaller sibling, Gramercy, in coral.   I will have a photo of those two together so that you can see the size difference.  I will say that Arrival has been my favorite JF bag so far.  Arrival is still available in tan, navy, and black and can be found HERE.  If you are wanting something smaller then check out Gramercy which is available in coral (pictured below) and tan.  Gramercy can be found HERE.

Don't Step On My Blue Suede Shoes

I have a major obsession with blue shoes.  It's like I just can't resist when I see a pretty blue shoe.  Last month JustFab released Naples (which I already have in mint) in a beautiful shade of blue.  I just had to have these.  Naples has a 5.5 inch heel with a 2 inch platform.  There are some sizes still available in the blue as well as a nude and red.  As you can see in the stock photo Naples has an slim ankle strap but lately I have haven't been feeling the ankle straps so I took them off for my picture.  Naples can be found HERE.

Iron Fist Don't Pussy Foot Platform

I am a huge fan of Iron Fist shoes.  I have so many solid color shoes that I love the patterns and such on the Iron Fist shoes.  I got an email introducing these awhile back but bargain shopper that I am I waited since I knew the the IF website occasionally has great sales.  I got a coupon in my email about 2 weeks ago that was too good to pass up.

Review:  These fit really well which is great since IF can be tricky for me.  Sometimes with such a large hidden platform the size 11 can fit a tiny bit tight in the toes for me but that wasn't the case with these.  I do wish the design was a bit darker on the shoe.  Don't Pussy Foot has a 6 inch heel.  The IF site is currently closed but they can be found in these places:  eBayAmazon , and Sourpuss Clothing.
